`xfce4-session-logout` can't be used to shutdown the system

When I use `startx` to start xfce(4.10), the shutdown button and reboot button can't be clicked(they turns gray), and this will not happen when I login as root.
But when I use slim to start xfce, all buttons are available.

What is your distribution and what are the contents of your ~/.xinitrc file? (at least the line that starts xfce.)
