[Solved] Lost MIME types when customizing Applications Menu

Hello,
I followed the instructions in the Wiki for how to customize menus.  I created ~/.local/share/applications and copied over all the .desktop files in /usr/share/applications.  Then I added the NoDisplay=true to a few .desktop files I didn't want displayed.   After I exited xfce4 and restarted it, the items were indeed hidden, but all MIME type data apparently was reset to the defaults.  Is this normal behavior or did I miss something, or am I not understanding what the Wiki is telling me?

This should help: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/De … plications
You may want to look at http://standards.freedesktop.org/menu-spec/latest/ and http://standards.freedesktop.org/deskto … #id2926453 for more info on the subject.
Also, although I don't know if it would make any difference, you could run (not as root) update-desktop-database.

Re: [Solved] Lost MIME types when customizing Applications Menu

Well I never could get Xfce to allow not displaying an item in the Applications menu without reverting back to the default MIME type associations.  I can live with it.  Just had to hide what I didn't want cluttering up my menu then go through and reset the MIME associations.  Thanks for the replies.  This gave me an opportunity to learn alot about Xfce.
