Thunar: how to make the context menu appear on the selected file

Hi

When dealing with files in Thunar, I find myself using the keyboard more often than not, and find the context-menu key (the  "right click key") very useful to quickly do things like "open with", etc. However, when I select a file with the keyboard and hit the context-menu, the menu appears wherever the mouse happens to be, instead of on the file. Since the mouse is just in some arbitrary place, it does mean that whenever I open the context menu I have to hunt around to see where it opened up. I would much rather it open up where the file is, but I haven't found an option for how to do this.

This seems to be fairly specific to Thunar:
- in Firefox, Chrome, gedit, pidgin, open office, etc., the context menu appears wherever the cursor is.
- in Thunar, the context menu appears under the mouse, wherever it happens to be.

How do I configure context menus on files to always appear where the file is, instead of where the mouse is?

Re: Thunar: how to make the context menu appear on the selected file

Although I never use the key, I tried it after seeing your post and can not replicate the behavior you are seeing. I wonder if it is a keyboard problem.  Might it help to try remapping the command

xfdesktop --menu

in Settings Manager > Keyboard?

Re: Thunar: how to make the context menu appear on the selected file

To clarify, I am not talking about the XFCE menu.

In Thunar, if you right-click a file, you get a context-menu with things like "open with", "properties", etc etc. You can also get this menu by selecting the file (either with the keyboard or with the mouse) and hitting a key on your keyboard, usually a key that looks kind of like a context menu (this guy: http://i.stack.imgur.com/sgzBP.jpg).

Expected behavior: this menu appears on the file (http://i.imgur.com/Kpk18uk.png)
In Thunar (for me): this menu appears under the mouse (http://i.imgur.com/FVhRwqz.png)

I'm on an unmodified xfce4 install on Gentoo
