[Solved] problems to set default webbrowser

Hi,
1) set Firefox as my default :
By Menu/Settings/Preferences (free translation = Menu/instellingen/voorkeuren in dutch) Firefox set as default
All is working ok :
Menu/webbrowser : firefox starts
Clicking an internetlink in Thunderbird opens in firefox
2) set Chromium as my default :
By Menu/Settings/Preferences Chromium set as default
Menu/webbrowser : message : "unable to run standard-webbrowser" (free translation), "file or folder does not exist" Choosing in the same message "Chromium"
Starting Chromium from shortcut on my desktop gives error message : "Chromium is not default browser" Checked as default
Menu/Settings/Preferences : message "check your default browser", however if I check the settings in Chromium is set as default browser
Clicking an internetlink in Thunderbird opens in firefox

Has somebody a clue ?

using
Xfce 4.10.0, Mint 13
Chromium : Versie 33.0.1750.152 Built on Ubuntu 12.04, running on LinuxMint 13 (256984)

Thunderbird 24.4.0

Re: [Solved] problems to set default webbrowser

No issues here (xubuntu 14.04)

Try the following:
- Menu > Settings > Preferrred Applications
- Web Browser > Other
- /usr/bin/chromium-browser (I believe in Mint is the same path)

Not using Thunderbird, so cannot test it ...
Might it have an option in Thunderbird settings ?

Re: [Solved] problems to set default webbrowser

In other applications (Libreoffice, VLC) Chromium webbrowser opens

Help in Thunderbird indicates that if "network.protocol-handler.external-default" was set at "false" problems can occured to the settings of the default webbrowser
In my case the Thunderbirth "network.protocol-handler.external-default" was found set at "true"
(to view this in Thunderbird, click Menu/Preferences/advanced. Search for "network.protocol-handler.external-default" Value can be noted false or true. By rightclicking "network.protocol-handler.external-default" one can reinitilize
