Hello!

Hello everyone,

I am Jonathan and a Xfce user since 2008. Other desktop environments like KDE and GNOME 2/3 and Unity
simply do not win from the ease-of-use and speed that is present in Xfce. I have tried LXDE, but didn't like its
(Windowish) looks. Great job on delivering this mighty desktop environment, developers!

Which distro do you recommend? I am now using Xubuntu 14.10, which debuted with rave reviews from, but
am also at home in Fedora. To me, Fedora 21 and Xfce is not really the most polished distro; in contrast to its GNOME 3 main 'spin'.

Also, are there any websites worth checking out for Xfce users?

Re: Hello!

Welcome Jonathan

I use Korora which is a Fedora respin. It is a little more polished and comes with all the extras people need to add to Fedora like codecs and popular apps.

Doesnt matter, all will work - personally prefer debian but will probably switch to devuan or salix os (due the increased ram usage with systemd)

@polish

I prefer distros that give me vanilla desktops, I love to start with a minimal installation and build up from there - so every xfce distribution that has more than ~700 packages by default installed is a no-go for me smile

Re: Hello!

Wow, Korora is just what I need. I am going to try it out, see if it can combine the ease of use of Xubuntu with the technical prowess of Fedora. Are you one of Korora's devs, ozjd?

Re: Hello!

Pleased you like Korora. We wanted it to be an easier to use Fedora.

I'm not a dev but am part of the team. I do testing and some support. You'll find me with the same name on irc and Korora's Engage.
