Selecting desktop files by name

Hey guys,

Sorry if I had not looked thoroughly and missed this topic in the forums.

The problem is that I can't select desktop files by name (by typing first name letter (or more) on a keyboard), the only way to do it is to open Desktop folder in Thunar. What should I do?

And secondly, is there a way to enable copying files by moving them while holding CTRL?

I'm not sure if those problems concern xfce or Thunar..

Thanks for the help wink

This functionality does not yet exist. Here is an existing enhancement request for just this feature.

Do you mean around the desktop? Or from the desktop to another folder? Or between folders (which currently works for me)?

BTW, which version of Xfce, xfdesktop and thunar are you using?

Yes, between folders, or making another copy in the same folder. XFCE 4.12, xfdesktop 4.12.2, Thunar 1.6.9.

Re: Selecting desktop files by name

That should work now. Drag a file from one folder to the next, but don't drop it yet. By default, there should be an arrow icon beneath the mouse cursor to indicate move. If you press Ctrl, the arrow icon will change into a + icon, indicating copy.
