keyboard shortcuts issue

I would like to use some of the keyboard shortcuts such as ctrl+alt+d to show desktop however anytime I hit ctrl+alt with anything or by itself it logs me out, how do I fix this? I am using xubuntu 14.04

Re: keyboard shortcuts issue

Is that key combination registered in Settings manager > Keyboard > Application shortcuts?

Re: keyboard shortcuts issue

Which version of Xfce are you running, and in which distro? I understood that Ctrl-Alt-d was the default Xfce keybinding for "show desktop," and it certainly works on my box.

Maybe this thread will help.

Re: keyboard shortcuts issue

I have a fully updated 14.04 64bit It takes forever to trouble shoot this as even after resetting all keyboard shortcuts to default as soon as I hit ctrl-alt it logs me out and I have to restart Firefox and setting manager. So I changed all shortcuts so none use ctrl-alt but still ctrl-alt logs me off

Re: keyboard shortcuts issue

The keyboard shortcuts for windows actions are in Settings - Window Manager - Keyboard not in Settings - Keyboard. A bit confusing having shortcuts in 2 places.

Re: keyboard shortcuts issue

Maybe its at a lower level. Did you configure any shortcuts with xbindkeys?

xbindkeys -s

Re: keyboard shortcuts issue

No

cmcanulty@ubuntu1:~$ xbindkeys -s
The program 'xbindkeys' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
sudo apt-get install xbindkeys
cmcanulty@ubuntu1:~$
