Firetray icon disappears upon closing Thunderbird window
Given that my FireTray preferences window has the option "Closing window hides to tray" enabled, the Firetray icon should remain remain visible upon closing the Thunderbird window (right-corner x).
Since a recent system update, however, Firetray is closed alongside the Thunderbird window. Has anyone experienced the same behavior by Firetray, and, if so, found a way to reestablish the default behavior (i.e., Firetray icon maintained upon closing of Thunderbird window)?

A thank you to grizzler for pointing out the solution. Downgrading to Firetray 0.4.8 resolves the issue.
