Re: Shell expansion (using TAB) does not work in terminal

Hello and welcome.

Which distro, and which version of Xfce are you using?
Are you connecting locally or through something like ssh or vnc?

And just to confirm, you are talking about xfce4-terminal. Correct? There are many terminal emulators.

Is it possible that the tab key is mapped to the "Open Tab" or "Open Terminal" menu item in your system? Post back the contents of your ~/.config/xfce4/terminal/accels.scm file.

Depending on the specifics of your setup, this thread may contain some useful information.

Re: Shell expansion (using TAB) does not work in terminal

Hi !

Oh man, I was really very professionel with my statement .... :-(  VERY SORRY.

I am using Debian Jessie (8.1, english, with kernel 3.16) and some XCFE - the latter is not easy to identify for me, because there seems to be no main component. I have: xfdesktop 4.10.1-1 with xfce panel 4.10.1-1 and Xcfe4 Terminal 0.63-1.

The thread-refrence does not helped me directly - nothing of them works - but your question ...
So I am connected via XRDP ..... I checked it, directly at the box, the problem does not occur.
Same with the tilde key ...

Thanks for your response! So I have more to research.

Best regards,

Manfred

When I was using xrdp with 4.10, I had a similar issue and the fix in post #21 of the thread linked earlier fixed it for me. Can you confirm whether you have tried this fix?
