XFCE and VNC

Hi there!

I want to connect to my „home box“ via VNC. What do I have to do to make xfce start (or already run) when I use 'vncviewer homebox'? I don't want to see what the one sitting in front of the box is seeing (now). I just want to have a screen with xfce running.

I tried using the WINDOWMANAGER environment variable and I tried putting something like

  /usr/bin/xfwm4

or

  x-window-manager

at the end of ~/.vnc/xstartup but that didn't work. So ... what?

TIA

Gregor

Re: XFCE and VNC

If I good think, you need to start a some script after login to xfce. Well I think?
If yes, click settings->session...->startup and add script to autorun

Thanks for your reply!

Maybe someone came up with the right answer in „debianforum.de“: It seems that xfce can only be started once per user. I will try to use a different account for the things I want to do.

Re: XFCE and VNC

VNC works different on linux than on windows.
Linux has no limits to created sessions for users at the same time. Of course, it's possible to create limits, but in default they doesn't exists.
If you login once over VNC, and start another VNC session - the second session will be different session than first.
Are you use in your 'home box' some login manager? Maybe read about x-session-manager

Is there no way to remove the limit on Windows like on Linux?
