A2DP Headset doesn't work

Hi,
I've tried 4 tutos to make my BT headset working with XFCE-4.12 :
Once time works well, but next reboot and the other operations to make it work have crash my system.

THIS to say it works perfectly with Gnome ... hmm

What is the pb with A2DP and XFCE ? ... getting crazy with that  !???

Re: A2DP Headset doesn't work

What system? If you have inxi installed, post output of command:

inxi -F

MX-23 (based on Debian Stable) with our flagship Xfce 4.18.

Re: A2DP Headset doesn't work

it should work out of the box if you have bluetooth, pulseaudio + pulseaudio-bluetooth installed. optionally blueman and pavucontrol can be installed to make it a bit easier.

Re: A2DP Headset doesn't work

It works out of the box with Gnome, but it doesn't work at all for A2DP with xfce.
The pb is to route the sound to the sound card.
I can connect BT device, but pavucontrol can't see it => no sound.

This is a very old bug now ... hmm

Re: A2DP Headset doesn't work

sorry but i dont have those issues. I just need to pair the device in blueman and open pavucontrol: playback tab>select headset, output/input devices tab>set bluetooth device, configuration tab>set a2dp

Re: A2DP Headset doesn't work

Lucky you ! ... wink
I've installed Linux Voyager 14.XX, Xubuntu 14.XX & 15.04, also update to xfce-4.12, I'm sorry to inform it doesn't work.
I just try with Ubuntu (Gnome) and it works well.

I've already managed with sounds file, editing, modify, get one success to hear BT Device, but this process is not acceptable for me. hmm
(It worked one time on 5 installs)

Xfce does not have any bluetooth code. All of the bluetooth connectivity is handled by third party tools (ie. the tools that @sixsixfive mentions). As I understand it, gnome has bluetooth functionality built into the DE.

Your issue has more to do with Xubuntu integration of bluetooth functionality that it does with Xfce. You should follow-up at the ubuntuforums for distro-specfic advice.

Re: A2DP Headset doesn't work

I think the problem lies in the update of bluez4 to bluez5, which blueman versions prior to 2.0 did not support. So blueman ended up broken.

Using debian sid, this was annoying until blueman 2.0 arrived.

Ubuntu 15.10 has version 2.0 of blueman, so you could give this a go.

Re: A2DP Headset doesn't work

Hi, 15.10 doesn't work correctly too, this is a real mess to make A2DP useful ... hmm
This works "alone" with my Android stuff (I don't have windows but I'm pretty sure it works too ...)

Re: A2DP Headset doesn't work

since the issue has nothing to do with xfce you might should look for help on your Distributions bug tracker or @blueman

you can also try the manual way as described here: https://wiki.debian.org/BluetoothUser/a2dp
