Debian Unstable. Alt-F2 and other user-defined hotkeys don't work

I disabled installation of suggested and recommended packages (I did it very long time ago).
I recently ran "apt upgrade" and then I instantly used "apt autoremove" to remove all non-essential packages.

It removed following packages:

cpp-4.6 gcc-4.6 lazarus-1.4.0 lazarus-doc-1.4.0 lazarus-ide-1.4.0 lazarus-ide-gtk2-1.4.0 lazarus-src-1.4.0

  libavformat-ffmpeg56 libavresample-ffmpeg2 libavutil-ffmpeg54 libbind9-90 libcamd2.3.1 libcamel-1.2-52

  libsodium13 libswresample-ffmpeg1 libswscale-ffmpeg3 libsysfs2 libtrio2 libumfpack5.6.2 libusbmuxd2
  libx265-59 libxtables10 libzmq3 linux-headers-3.2.0-4-686-pae linux-headers-3.2.0-4-common

  python-defusedxml python-funcsigs python-mock python-pbr python-ply python-pycparser python-soappy
  python-wstools python3.4 python3.4-minimal

After that I discovered that I'm unable to use alt-F2 and other user-defined hotkeys. It seems like that I unintentionally removed a package that provides said functionality. Can you help me find this package(s)?

Re: Debian Unstable. Alt-F2 and other user-defined hotkeys don't work

Hello and welcome.

Check to see if xfsettingsd is running. If not, try manually starting it to see if you get any error messages.

Re: Debian Unstable. Alt-F2 and other user-defined hotkeys don't work

I checked my xfce4 settings, xfsettingsd is supposed to run automatically, and "ps -e" shows that it's true.
I also started xfsettingsd several times manually. After N tries I got

(xfsettingsd:2553): libxfce4ui-WARNING **: Unable to open "/etc/xdg/autostart/xfsettingsd.desktop"
xfsettingsd: Another clipboard manager is already running.

and after that I was able to use alt-F2.

P.S. I discovered that after some time xfsettingsd disappears from "ps -e" output (although even before it alt-F2 doesn't work). I suspect that it's due to
execution of "sh -c "sleep 100 && ffprobe -i /dev/video0" command that I have on my autorun list (I use it to make my webcam turn off its LED that it turns on automatically on start).

Re: Debian Unstable. Alt-F2 and other user-defined hotkeys don't work

I manually started "XFSETTINGSD_DEBUG=1 xfsettingsd --replace --no-daemon" two times during one session.

Re: Debian Unstable. Alt-F2 and other user-defined hotkeys don't work

Try clearing your sessions cache. While not logged into Xfce, delete the contents of ~/.cache/sessions.

Then log in and see if your keyboard shortcuts are working.

I suspect that it's due to
execution of "sh -c "sleep 100 && ffprobe -i /dev/video0" command that I have on my autorun list (I use it to make my webcam turn off its LED that it turns on automatically on start).

Try disabling this temporarily to see if it makes a difference.

Btw, this is with Debian Sid a very very bad idea. The right command is "apt full-upgrade", always.
Have a look in man apt.

Alas, nothing changed. Alt-F2 still doesn't work.

As far as I understand, "apt full-upgrade" means the same thing as "apt dist-upgrade". I tried "apt dist-upgrade", but it failed, because I locked some packages from installation/upgrade. I did it because new versions of said packages are too buggy, so I had to use "apt upgrade". Normally I would decline to make upgrade at all, but it wasn't an option, because I hoped that upgrade will cure crashes of Anki (and so far it seems that I was right).

P.S. I have systemD uninstalled, can it be the reason of my problems?

P.P.S. I figured out that if I run xfsettingsd manually enough times, then sooner or later it starts to work.
