prearranging desktop icons for the guest user

Hi,

I'm currently trying to customize a kiosk system. A customer asked whether or not it would be possible to arrange the desktop icons for the guest user. I haven found any way to do this because the guest user doesn't adopt the .rc files (~/.config/xfce4/desktop) from the user it sources its home folder from.

So my question is is it possible to prearrange the desktop icons for the guest user? If yes, how?

Best Regards

Re: prearranging desktop icons for the guest user

Check this out: https://wiki.xfce.org/howto/kiosk_mode#xfce4_desktop

Some components of Xfce have support for kiosk mode. This can be enabled by creating and modifying the system kioskrc file found at:

${sysconfdir}/xdg/xfce4/kiosk/kioskrc

By default, ${sysconfdir} points to /etc

(...)

Xfce4 Desktop

[xfdesktop]
UserMenu=%wheel
CustomizeBackdrop=ALL
CustomizeDesktopMenu=%wheel
CustomizeWindowlist=NONE
CustomizeDesktopIcons=brian

(...)

CustomizeDesktopIcons

Whether or not to allow the user to enable or disable the display of desktop icons, or change their style.

Disclaimer: I just googled, never used kiosk mode, good luck!
