Change default open with for screenshot tool?

Dear all,

Currently testing Xubuntu 18.04 and really like it!

Firefox is set to default for the open with action for the screenshot tool.

How can I change this action to default to GIMP?

See this screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/yXJ1kXO.png

Thank you!

Did you check the settings for .png in Settings - Mime Type Editor?

Dear ozjd,

Strangely, it's neither GIMP nor Firefox but Ristretto:

Okay I had a play with this and what I found seems to work. Open Thunar and locate a .png file. If you don't have one save a screenshot, you can delete it later if you want. Right click on it and select 'Open with' and then 'Other Application' and choose Gimp. Let it open and then the Screenshooter will use that in future.

Doesn't seem to work for me. I don't even know where this Firefox association comes from.

If you select Gimp there it isn't also used in the Screenshooter?

Re: Change default open with for screenshot tool?

A workaround I found was to remove the packages firefox imagemagick and imagemagick-6.q16.

Now GIMP is my default. :-)

However, not a very practical solution.
