make mousepad remember last save location

Hello.
How can i make mousepad remember last save location, so i do not have to navigate through folder tree to find the right place everytime i save a new file (I usually want to save them in the same place i had been working recently)
The default place it saves files is the $HOME folder.

I'm using linuxmint 18.3 xfce, Mousepad 0.4.0

Re: make mousepad remember last save location

GTK2 used to have a FileChooserOption "StartupMode" where it could be set to "current working directory", "recent files", or "last used folder". The GTK maintainers removed the "last used folder" option in GTK3.

To have this functionality added to mousepad, you will need to ask the developer to add in the functionality via an enhancement request at the bug tracker (link in header of this page).

Re: make mousepad remember last save location

That's one of the reasons we switched to FeatherPad for MX-17 default (another being lack of print function).

Re: make mousepad remember last save location

I didn't find how to make a request, but I filed a bug report: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14165

I think I had not described what is happening accurately.

Today i realized that it is not the $HOME folder the default for saving files.
Mousepad always offers to save the files where each instance of the app was opened from, no matter where you save then the files.
At least, this is a little better: I have to launch the app from where i will probably want to save the following files.

Jerry3904, What is that about the lack of print function?

I haven't tried it with a real printer, but Mousepad has a print funtion, even leafpad has now.

Re: make mousepad remember last save location

I was thinking of leafpad, sorry. We made that decision very early in the development cycle, and never looked back.
