Terminal Letter Spacing

Hello all!

I've just installed Arch and Xfce for the first time and I'm running into a bit of an odd issue from what I can tell. My terminal has incredibly odd spacing for the letters.

Everything else I've seen for this recommends switching to a monospaced font and that fixes it, but for me the default font was monospaced and changing font has barely any effect, regardless of the font.

For reference, the font I have set is Monospace Regular and everything else is default.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Which fonts have you installed? What does the following return?

fc-match "Monospace"

I have not installed any extra fonts. Whatever came default is what I have.

The output of that command is:

NotoSansDisplay-Regular.ttf: "Noto Sans Display" "Regular"

I switched my font to Noto Sans Display Regular after seeing that and there was no visible change to the terminal font.

Sans isn't a monospace font. Try installing one and see if that helps. For example, the noto-fonts collection includes one.

Thank you so much! I was a little confused by the situation, as the first font I was using was quite literally called "monospace." It's all fixed now. Thanks for your help!
