[Solved] Quicklauncher Plugin -- Maintenance

Until just recently, i had never tried xfce's "Quicklauncher" panel-plugin. Though quite functional and easy to setup and use, there are a few observations re. gui-fixes & -improvements i'd like to provide to the developers.

However, since this plugin is NOT listed anywhere in the project's roadmap to v4.14, will this plugin be deprecated/left behind, or was it merely overlooked?

Cheers, m4a

Re: [Solved] Quicklauncher Plugin -- Maintenance

@mint4all, there are a number of plugins that are included as part of the xfce4-panel package - it is one of them. See: https://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-panel/tree/plugins for a list. They have all been migrated to GTK3 as part of the xfce4-panel migration.

Re: [Solved] Quicklauncher Plugin -- Maintenance

Thank you for your prompt reply! My question re. "Quicklauncher" plugin does not concern the common "launcher" plugin which, i understand now, comes bundled with the xfce4-panel. In fact, my question concerns the plugin as shown on this screenshot ...
Horiz-Panel-Gradient.png
That plugin is titled "Quicklauncher", is pre-seeded as you can see with 4 simple gtk-buttons to launch apps, allows for additions / deletions, and is pre-seeded with 19 icon-like pixmaps. While its compelling feature is the ability to create as many as 8 rows of (admittedly tiny) launch-buttons inside a panel's row(s), it comes with a few quirks as well that i'd like to address...

Afaict, this plugin is not included in the xfce-panel bundle of plugins.

Cheers, m4a

Re: [Solved] Quicklauncher Plugin -- Maintenance

It's archived: https://git.xfce.org/?ofs=207

Last commit 2017, last meaningful commit (apart from translations) 2015, last commit by lead developer 2009.

I don't use it but it has some appeal, perhaps you could revive it, m4a!

Re: [Solved] Quicklauncher Plugin -- Maintenance

Ah yes, sorry for the confusion. It is not currently part of the migration process. However, the GTK3-version of xfce4-panel will also run GTK2 plugins like this one. However, the quicklauncher plugin hasn't had any work done on it almost 4 years and doesn't appear to be part of future plans for Xfce, unless someone decides to adopt it and keep it updated.

Re: [Solved] Quicklauncher Plugin -- Maintenance

Had a closer look. It's still dependent on libxfce4gui which has been deprecated. So it needs to be re-worked to no longer depend on libxfce4gui and migrated to GTK3. Quite  bit of work involved.

Thanks for looking into this, and the link to the source. after downloading it and looking it over, i must admit that with my worth-than-rusty C-lang skills, taking on such a rehab project would be way over my head. Sad to see some of that useful functionality going byebye ...

Thanks t y'all.
