The default theme looks from 1995

There's any chance we could upgrade the default aesthetics of XFCE? Distros like Xubuntu or Manjaro have done a good job creating a modern, consistent and good looking appearance. We should do that too.

Yes, distros generally create their own theme. The default Xfce theme should work on all possible distros (both linux and bsd) with all possible configurations (e.g. compositor on / compositor off). I think you will run into a problem when you try to get consensus on what a "good" theme would be that would work as a good base theme in all possible scenarios.

However, if you are serious about taking this forward, I would suggest you post your suggestion to the xfce4-dev mailing list to see if you get any traction.

Hi, sorry for the delay!
Right now I'm implementing a better support for wacom tablets. But I'll talk with them when I'm done. Thank you.

I think that greybird should be Xfce's default theme and Faenza should be default icon theme, as said in docs.xfce.org

1995 was unironically peak desktop experience (otherwise you can try Arc)

I retrofitted my Xfce4 with BeOS theme (from circa 1996); check my screenshot; but others have made Xfce look futuristic or currently modern too; so I guess the best feature is that you can customize it to your taste and all the way down the process it stays snappy and responsive, all the opposite to heavyweight rigid Unity (and I love Ubuntu, that's why I installed my Xfce on top of Ubuntu-server distro)
