Back Arrow in Thunar Directories Supporting Drag 'N Drop?

In MultiCommander there's an arrow (see below, in yellow square) which represents the previous directory, and you can drag files in the current directory and drop them on the back arrow and they will be moved to the previous directory. Is there a hack to make this a feature in Thunar?

Not directly. no. However, if you change the sidebar to tree view (View>Side Pane>Tree), you will see the complete tree to your current folder and you can drag and drop files to any part of the displayed directory tree.

I don't like using the sidepane/treeview and always have it turned off.

It just occurred to me that one way it could be done is to place a symlink of the previous directory in the subdirectories. I wouldn't want a symlink placed in every directory, but it could work for oft-used directories.
