xfce4-screensaver unusable (for Buster-sysVinit only?) [SOLVED]

We would like to have this app available for our users at the very least, if not supply it by default, so have been testing it. Bottom line: it seems to pay no attention to the user's selecting to not lock the screen--except sporadically.

I can see that the daemon is working correctly, as the value for "enabled" in the config file toggles between  T/F. But the screen remains locked almost always, just once in a rare while after a reboot or logout.

We have filed a bug report: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15726

I'm looking for other users' experiences with being able to select screen unlocked. Especially where the init is not systemd, though I don't know for sure whether that is the critical factor in this failure.

BTW: the Help file for that app is truly useless (and I write a lot of them), and if we eventually use it I am thinking of redoing it.

TIA

Jerry,
I just noticed this commit to add proper support for xfce4-screensaver in xfce4-power-manager.

Thanks, I will take a look again (if possible) and see if that solves the problem. The Bugzilla report has not been altered so it's hard to tell ATM.

Just to finish this up: the developer Sean Davis has fixed the lock problem in version 0.1.7, which we have packaged and are testing now. Yeah, Xfce Devs!
