Panel opacity getting reset between sessions

My OS is Arch 64 bit using the Arch XFCE4 packages which is 4.14, which includes xfce4-panel 4.14.
I'm using compton as my compositor.

Since updating to 4.14 the panel opacity setting for "Leave" is getting reset to 100%.
My settings:
Style: Solid Colour
Colour : #000000 (Alpha is unchanged at 100%)
Opacity
Enter: 80%
Leave: 40%

When I restart XFCE or reboot the "Leave" setting is reset to 100% every time.

As an experiment I changed the alpha ratio in Colour.
That does affect the colour getting displayed, but that doesn't change the behaviour and Leave still gets reset to 100%.

Is this a bug or perhaps something I need to change?

Re: Panel opacity getting reset between sessions

Is this the only setting that is reset?

Check the permission of the files in ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml to make sure they are all owned by you.
Can you also post back your user journal file for the last boot:

journalctl --user --no-pager -b2

And finally, change the opacity setting then run the following in a terminal window:

xfce4-panel -s

...and report back if any error messages are displayed.

Re: Panel opacity getting reset between sessions

Thanks for responding! Yes the only setting reverted is the Leave opacity.

ls -l ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf

total 4
drwx------ 2 bhrgunatha bhrgunatha 4096 Sep 17 19:38 xfce-perchannel-xml

I have read + write and ownership of all the files in that folder too.

After rebooting just now (was the -b2 switch a typo I can't imagine you wanted the second boot entry?):

journalctl --user --no-pager -b

After changing the opacity:

xfce4-panel -s

Note: No output

Re: Panel opacity getting reset between sessions

Update in case anyone has the same problem.

Current versions of the main XFCE packages:
xfdesktop: 4.14.2
xfwm4: 4.14.2
xfce4-panel: 4.14.4

Since compton is deprecated I changed to picom (with no issues) but after recent system updates I started to get strange video artefacts like some parts of the screen flickering and rapidly re-painting.
I've heard the xfce compositor has improved and eliminated screen tearing so I've removed picom and use the built-in compositor.

The problem has now disappeared へ‿(ツ)‿ㄏ
