On desktop, icon and hover preview dont work with some PNG image file

All images in this screenshot are PNG files
Some icon image previews are working.
Some icon image previews are not working.
For image previews not working in icon: preview on hover also does not work.
Anyone know of a fix for this?

are all those PNG files working valid PNG files? does ImageMagick (convert, display) work OK on them?

@taciturnium, if you left-click on a blank space on the desktop and then press F5, does the thumbnail image show then?
