Re: Terminal preferences: show running command in title? [solved]

Have you made any changes to /etc/bash.bashrc? Is it still at its default content?

Re: Terminal preferences: show running command in title? [solved]

Yes, no changes made there:

bash-5.0$ cat /etc/bashrc
# /etc/bashrc

# System wide functions and aliases
# Environment stuff goes in /etc/profile

# It's NOT a good idea to change this file unless you know what you
# are doing. It's much better to create a custom.sh shell script in
# /etc/profile.d/ to make custom changes to your environment, as this
# will prevent the need for merging in future updates.

# Prevent doublesourcing

Assuming bash, you can add the following to your .bashrc:

trap 'echo -ne "\033]2;$(history 1 | sed "s/^[ ]*[0-9]*[ ]*//g")\007"' DEBUG

This will put the name of the current running (or last run) command in your terminal title.

Thank you !

This command work well on my system !
