And this is my daughter's PeppermintOS: 
I simply used the included themes, fonts and icons from the respective distros, plus played around a bit with the panel settings. I don't even need a dock, it was just the standard "window buttons." XFCE is very easy to customize and to have sleek, pleasant results.

Adwaita theme, Oxylite icons (Inherits=Oxygen Mix,oxygen-mix-1.4,Nova7,elementary)
Utilizing 4 panels of XFCE:
1. Web site health indicator (left, align to top)
2. Deskbar with buttons etc (left, align to bottom)
3. Window Buttons, supplemented with vervie (bottom)
4. (autohide) Title and Buttons for current window (top, align to right), useful when it's maximized
