I guess I should post something. Here is my setup:

I am running on Xubuntu 11.04, with the Glow Fire GTK theme, Faenza-Dark Icon theme, Default Window Manager theme, and one of the many Interface Lift wallpapers in my wallpaper list (the current image is called Hilton Bora Bora).

Oh yeah, and a simple Conky setup in the corner.

For the icons and everything else, I just copied everything from Xubuntu 11.04.

Nah, I use xdotool via shell scripts via Xfce's 'application shortcuts' in the keyboard settings.

That's some kick-arse conky configing, there.

That said, I can't imagine using a vertical panel on a netbook; web browsing with anything less than 1024 pixels of window width is a pain.

I've heard that from quite a few people but, I've always had more of an issue with the 600px top to bottom than the 1024px across.

And, I just installed Arch for the first time.

But that's part of it. Unless you've somehow disabled the horizontal scrollbar from showing up in your web browser, most websites are going to dock you ~15px of vertical screen space, anyway. *shrug*
