Re: Xfce 4.8 Disable Desktop Right Click Menu

That only removes the applications menu right?

I would like to remove the entire right click menu, so no menu appears when right clicking on desktop.

Re: Xfce 4.8 Disable Desktop Right Click Menu

You can disable the menu by setting the desktop icons to none, in the last tab of desktop settings.

This will also eliminate your desktop icons, though.

I haven't been able to disable the menu, but not the icons.

I actually would have a use for the menu and the icons, just not the applications menu and the desktop settings.

You can't disable desktop right click menu in kiosk mode.
Don't start xfdesktop in /etc/xdg/xfce4/xinitrc

Re: Xfce 4.8 Disable Desktop Right Click Menu

Thats odd, since thats exactly how I have set up mine...

Although I'm not really running in kiosk mode pre-se (i'm not using a kioskrc file). As I understand, in xfce 4.8 the kioskrc file does not work (I could not get it to work, at least), but you accomplish a similar effect by locking the xfce-perchannel-xml files in /etc/xdg/xfce/xfconf (ubuntu).

I have yet to try disabling xfdesktop. What about setting the desktop background without xfdesktop? Are there any other effects?

Re: Xfce 4.8 Disable Desktop Right Click Menu

Ok, I'll try that (also in xinitrc?)

Thanks

So, no other side effects? Does it make a big difference performance wise?

Re: Xfce 4.8 Disable Desktop Right Click Menu

If you want to disable the right click menu in xfdesktop you'll need to compile it with ./configure --disable-desktop-menu
