Re: Panels gone

Somehow I've been having this problem too, though I can still access the Xfce menu with a right mouse click.

Anyone know how either of us can get the panels back, though?

Re: Panels gone

I'm using Xfce 4.3.90.2 on Xubuntu 6.06.1. No error messages popped up when I ran the suggested command.

Re: Panels gone

I just tried that on GNOME and it opened an xfce panel, which may have just fixed my problem.
I'm running the same as whitecollar.

EDIT- well... it runs the panels in xfce fine, but only so long as I'm running ti through the terminal. How do I make it so that it always runs?

Re: Panels gone

Using Xfce with Xubuntu

Find Sessions and Startup then click the Advanced Tab

in the Compatibility box  check GNOME or KDE  (even both)

logout / login

For Xubuntu just check GNOME - worked for me

Panel's were lost after clicking on sub-pixel hinting and restarting. (Xubuntu 6.06.1)
If you have a CRT display - don't bother exploring this check box.

Re: Panels gone

If the panel is not running, execute xfce4-panel in the program launcher (Alt+F2). If nothing is visible quit panel (xfce4-panel --exit in terminal), remove your old config files: rm -R ~/.config/xfce4/panel and restart the panel.

Re: Panels gone

I have this problem too!!! And nothing here seems to fix it (I'm using xubuntu dapper).
In my case what happened was that X.org froze up and I shut down the computer via ssh (sudo halt). Then after rebooting no more panels, all I can do is right click on the desktop an use the applications menu.
What causes this? I mean there must be a bad state file somewhere or something like that because even if I run xfce4-panel it isn't the same panel I used to have.
Can someone please help me get my panels back?
