Missing Settings Manager Icons

Hi,

I've just changed from GNOME to XFCE (4.4.0) on FC6, and am having trouble configuring things. The XFCE settings manager only has 8 icons - I'm sure I remember there being more than that. Have I missed something important? (I have xfce-mcs-manager and xfce-mcs-plugins installed up to the latest version in FC6.)

There's plenty more options in the Settings menu in XFCE that aren't shown in the Settings Manager window - but they don't work. I'd assumed they were GNOME things that got put in there, but could they be broken XFCE config panels?

TIA

Re: Missing Settings Manager Icons

Same thing happens here.

I have the icons installed in the usual location but my freshly installed 4.4.1 version only shows the screen saver icon in the settings manager window.

BTW, is there any way to change the location of the launcher arrows for submenus in the panels, like in 4.2, because having them below the icon is not very easy to use.

Thanks for the help

Re: Missing Settings Manager Icons

Nope you cannot change the arrow location in 4.4 (although I don't see why it isn't easy to use). With a completely installed Xfce environment there are ~15 icons in the settings manager. This is some problem in fedora, so report it there.

Re: Missing Settings Manager Icons

Well, as for usability problem, it is mainly related to the fact that you have to concentrate on clicking in a tiny space in between two buttons. It is matter of overcontrol but then again you cannot fight reflexes (HMI is all about not fighting them but using them)

And nope, I am not using Fedora Core, I have compiled from sources on a Slackware. But then again I don't think distro should matter that much if I am building from sources ...

Re: Missing Settings Manager Icons

Well the good news is the arrow position will be configurable in Xfce 4.6, so you just have to wait :-|.

Re: Missing Settings Manager Icons

No harm intended, really, I am enjoying the new release quite a lot. Just that I have been fighting with those two glitches for a small while and I was running out of ideas.

The icon stuff is merely aesthetics but I miss my good ol' icons on the settings manager

Re: Missing Settings Manager Icons

You could try to update the icon cache (if there buttons are there in the settings manager, but without icons):

gtk-update-icon-cache -f -t <prefix>/share/icons/hicolor

But when you install from source that should be done automatically by the make files.
