system language and locale

hi

i use xfce 4.6.1 on freebsd 7.2-stable

i found that xfce system language depends on the locale. i use ru_RU.KOI8-R locale and the xfce interface language is russian.
i really do not like russian interfaces and prefer english ones, so if i change the local to en_US.ISOxxxxx i have english interface, _BUT_ i can't deal with russian filenames anymore sad

is there any way to set xfce interface language without changing system locale.

thx in advance

Re: system language and locale

I don't get it. I went to the Russian page of YAHOO!, copied some Cyrillic text, created a new file and pasted the text. The Cyrillic characters show perfectly fine on the desktop and in Thunar.
Are you not able to do that? Maybe you're missing some fonts?

Localization changes the language of the interface, i.e. your desktop environment. BTW, I have the environment variables LC_ALL and LANG set to en_US.ISO8859-1 in my .cshrc file.

Re: system language and locale

i've got how it works

i've set LC_MESSAGES to en_US and it solved the problem - interface language is now english, and locale is russian.
