Desktop fails to load

Hi all,

I have a funny problem with xfce4 today. When i start my pc, the desktop simply won't start, all the icons on the desktop disappeared and i cannot right click to to to the menu either. The last time when i still used xfce4, it still worked fine. I haven't changed anything to my system from yesterday until now (except the boot order in grub, since i have to log in to window more often now to do the final year project). At this moment, all the function work fine (panel, alt + f2), except  the desktop.

Please have look at the screenshot for more details

I am using xubuntu 10.04 and all the driver are installed correctly. Is there any solution for this  ?

problem solved: xfdesktop fails to load. But i still confused, why suddenly  does it fail to load? I didnt do anything wrong with it . so weird  :? :? :?

Re: Desktop fails to load

I've had this happen once-in-a-while on one of my systems. Apparently something kills xfdesktop as I am shutting down (I generally hit Alt+F4 to bring up the prompt.), and then that configuration gets saved when the system shuts down.

I don't know whether or not that's what's happening to you. Did you check to see whether or not you have the "save session" checkbox checked on the logoff prompt? If you start xfdesktop, then save the session, and then uncheck the save session checkbox on the logoff prompt, then the issue will probably stop bothering you.

Actually, I just leave everything as it is by default (Xfce 4.6.2 / Debian testing) and restart xfdesktop if I need to do so. It's a pretty rare occurrence for me.
