[Solved] links in a terminal

Good morning all,

I am in the process of switching from FVWM to Xfce. So far I like what I see, but there are a few things to figure out. I'm working on the others (how else do you learn?), but I have one that I just can not get. If I display text in a terminal emulator that is a URL, middle-clicking on it opens the link in my browser. I would like all text to be treated as text, so how do I disable the browser launching?

Thanks,
Nelson

Re: [Solved] links in a terminal

I don't think that I can actually answer your question in a very satisfactory fashion.
I think that I would be beneficial to know what emulator you are using.

I'm using urxvt and I do not have this behavior.

G'day

Re: [Solved] links in a terminal

I am using the terminal emulator that came with the standard Debian install:
   http://goodies.xfce.org/projects/applications/terminal

By the way, I forgot to mention that I made the following change to ~/.config/Terminal/terminalrc with no luck:
   MiscHighlightUrls=TRUE
to:
   MiscHighlightUrls=FALSE

I know the terminalrc file is being used because I also changed the window geometry manually by editing the file, and that change was picked up immediately. Guess I could always try another emulator.

Thanks,
Nelson

Works just fine for me.

You will find the documentation here:

Re: [Solved] links in a terminal

It works just fine for me too, once I corrected my typo. Somehow FALSE became FALS. *sigh*

I take notes as I make changes like this, and I copied the MiscHighlightUrls line straight from my vi session. Somehow I must have hit an x as I went to zz out. I discovered my mistake when I opened the file to copy it in my reply. Guess we don't need that now, eh?

Thanks for the link, but I had already found that too. But this was thoroughly my fault.

Sorry to be a bother. I will marked this as solved
