lightdm and gnome-icon-theme

hello everyone,

why is lightdm depend of the gnome-icon-theme?
in debian wheezy i can install only lightdm and lightdm-gtk-greeter,( the other greeters are present in Debian sid only, i believe.)
as far as i know, i need to edit the /etc/lightdm/lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf file to customize lightdm
but there i can choose wallpaper and theme only. (the theme is setup to adwaita, and if i change to Xfce or whatever other theme, they take no effect)
how should i proceed to, for example, make lightdm use the nice tango icons?
after editing the lightdm-gtk-greeter file, should i do some command to update it or so?
i know lightdm is no xfce software and theoretically, but maybe you guys know something similar?
thanks in advance

regards

Re: lightdm and gnome-icon-theme

this is how it is done:

#
# background = Background file to use, either an image path or a color (e.g. #772953)
# show-language-selector (true or false)
# theme-name = GTK+ theme to use
# font-name = Font to use
# xft-antialias = Whether to antialias Xft fonts (true or false)
# xft-dpi = Resolution for Xft in dots per inch (e.g. 96)
# xft-hintstyle = What degree of hinting to use (hintnone, hintslight, hintmedium, or hintfull)
# xft-rgba = Type of subpixel antialiasing (none, rgb, bgr, vrgb or vbgr)
#
[greeter]
background=/usr/share/images/desktop-base/login-background.svg
#show-language-selector=false
theme-name=Xfce
icon-theme-name=Tango
#font-name=
xft-antialias=true
#xft-dpi=
xft-hintstyle=hintfull
xft-rgba=rgb

but when i reboot it stills the same. maybe the user lightdm cant access the themes and icons folder, but it could do normally when it was set Adwaita and gnome...
