Tip: enable scroll on background window without stealing focus...

... and still being able to change focus when clicking on the background window.
For this we have to Open 'Settings>Window Manager Tweaks>Acessibility' tab and uncheck 'Raise windows when any mouse button is pressed'.
I changed systems recently and took more than a week to find again where the heck was that setting ;-)
Maybe it should be on the 'Focus' tab?

BTW, I think that the Tips&Tricks section of the forum should be re-enabled as the docs don't really work for this (I didn't check if it changed but it used to be in one single page which obviously wouldn't be appropriate and the on-line docs are more a properly organised usage guide for the apps).

Just a heads up that I really think that option should be disabled by default. People expect to raise a window by clicking on it but also to be able to scroll the background window without raising it.

Thanks for that tip. I'll be enabling it now.

It's not exactly a helpful description of the option is it? Does this option effect more than the scroll wheel?

+1 Agree that this should be in the "Focus" tab and that uncheck should be the default.  OTOH, XFCE is extremely pleasant to use vs. Unity.

Whew, thanks for this thread. I wouldn't have guessed the 'Raise windows when any mouse button is pressed', especially in someplace other than the focus tab. I agree with ddeeff that the description is a little off from what I really want, to toggle raising windows via the mouse scroll.

Re: Tip: enable scroll on background window without stealing focus...

I tried this solution before, even liked it for a while, until I noticed that the windows are no longer raised on clicking with the middle button (copy->paste) and the right button (popup menu). I much more prefer the current default behavior.

A proper fix would be to raise the window only on clicking with mouse buttons 1, 2 & 3.
