Composite Affects

I am looking for a cube affect and wobbly windows affects.  Are there any compositors that work well and stablily with Xfce to offer those features within the DE?

Thanks.

Re: Composite Affects

compiz is probably your only option if you want the cube effect. compiz works fine with xfce, and guide posted above works well.

Personally on my machine I've been using elementary os's gala: http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/11244 … untu-1210/

Doesn't have advanced effects like cube, but is great for having simple effects like scale and removing tearing

Re: Composite Affects

Thanks for the ideas.  I will see if there is any way to impliment them in my situation.

I have been using Fedora 17 and now 18 with Xfce 4.10, and neither has any way to run compiz in a stable fashion.  I have actually wanted to get some feedback from others using Fedora and Xfce to see what they have done and if they have the same problems as I have.

See Redhat Bugzilla on Compiz.

Again, thanks for the suggestions.

Re: Composite Affects

Just so you know, affect means “A subjective feeling experienced in response to a thought or other stimulus; mood, emotion, especially as demonstrated in external physical signs.”

Besides that, compiz is the only possibility I know of.

Re: Composite Affects

KitchM, I have two computers running Fedora 17, Xfce and compiz.  My desktop uses nVidia graphics; my laptop doesn't.  Compiz works fine on both, so if you're having trouble with it, go over to the fedoraforum.org and get some specialized help.

Re: Composite Affects

Thanks stqn.  I guess I was thinking that of a usage such as "she had affected an air of superiority" and where something is discribed as a way one does not feel.   Another definition of affect is that which causes an effect.

And just so you know, affect's first meaning is "to act on; produce an effect or change in: Cold weather affected the crops. "

"The effectiveness caused an affect" or "the affectiveness caused an effect" or.....

I also meant "stably", instead of "stablily".

I'll try to be mo betta.

Re: Composite Affects

Sideburns, thanks for the info.  But you may wish to re-read post 4 and check that link.  That goes right into the Redhat/Fedora/et al support system.  I doubt that a forum of people like me can help with these specific issues.

What we really want is for Xfce programmers to connect with the maintainers there.  They are the pros on both sides.

Thanks again.

Re: Composite Affects

Yes.  I'd looked earlier.  And, as I posted earlier, it works just fine for me on two computers.  It may be that there's a bug affecting KitchM, but the people over at the fedoraforum are often quite good at working around them.  Here's a link: http://fedoraforum.org/
