[Solved] Panel 0 at bottom covers other windows

Hi I am a newbie to Xfce desktop. I found something rather annoying to me: When panel 0 is placed at the bottom of the screen instead of at the top, it covers part of the windows. The result is that I cannot see the status bar of some software such as thunderbird, or I cannot see the downloading progress in Chrome.

Here is a screenshot with Chrome downloading a file. Note the left bottom corner:

Any one has any ideas about how to solve this?

Thanks!

UPDATE: My Xfce version is 4.10, my distro is Xubuntu 13.04. I am using Intel HD 3000 on my SONY laptop at 1366x768.

Look at the Panel preferences, right click on the panel - Panel - Panel Preferences and check Don't reserve space isn't selected.
