I fiured this out.
Add "places" to your panel. It has the function to clear out all recent documents.

Re: [Solved] How to delete recent documents in xfce?

I tried to delete  ~/.local/share/recently-used.xbel, but as soon as I did, another copy popped up.
Anyway, adding "Places" from the Panel's "Add New Items" fuction solves the problem.
I just wish there was a way to change the icons for the "File Manager", "Home", "Minimize all Opn Windows",
and "Places". The icons all look about the same. It would be neat if they could be changed to something
else.

Re: [Solved] How to delete recent documents in xfce?

This is an old thread but this info will always be useful:
Delete the recently-used.xbel file mentioned above, but replace it with a folder with the same name. This way, xfce will think it has left a written register of the documents you have used, but there will be no register because nothing can be written into a folder!! smile

Oh, I thought you were looking for a way to batch-delete the actual documents, lol. I did not realize that you just wanted to delete the access history.
