oh, cmon, look at the date... ...since then you can now use the application finder or if you have menulibre installed the button in the applications-menu plugin...

Thank you, I was not aware of menulibre.

I have installed both alacarte and menulibre, neither work properly.

Menulibre does not see my "electronics" group, its simply not shown.

Alacarte sees the electronic group in which i tried to add a new item for Xcircuit and the item ended up in the "Others" group. WTF?

I used to use LXmed but its had no developmentment for 3 years and could not see some groups as well.

Thoughts?

Cheers,
john

Re: Native editor for XFCE application menu?

Hello,

you could give xame a try: http://www.redsquirrel87.com/XAME.html

I've been using it for months now and it always worked absolutely flawlessly for me - had never any issues with it.

Well that's interesting! I had no trouble installing it, it seems to run fine and it looks very handy. Minor quirk here: grabbing a corner to resize just moves it.

Guys, I've read and reread this thread and I'm confused.  I have openSUSE 13.1 with Xfce 4.10.1 and I can right-click my menu icon in the panel, click properties; up pops Applications Menu and under menu file click edit menu and, um, edit menu.  Maybe this is something specific to openSUSE, maybe not.  hmm

This looks as if it works but in my system actually doesn't.  The editor seems to allow adding categories and moving items around among categories but there is no evident way to use the result:  I still get the default menu (which puts R under graphics, of all things.)  The revised menu does seem to be saved somewhere,  since the revisions persist from one editing attempt to the next.  And there's a button to use a menu other than the default.  However, since there's no indication of where the edited menu is stored, it's not evident how to use the revised menu instead of the default menu.  No help available for the menu editor.

I have Ubuntu Studio 14.04.2 LTS and Xfce 4.10.

I encountered the same issue. That "edit" button appeared only after I got alacarte installed.

Re: Native editor for XFCE application menu?

If you right click the applications menu, go to properties, then to behavior tab and check edit applications then it appears in right click menu

Re: Native editor for XFCE application menu?

In Xfce 4.12, the tab you need is actually Commands (at least on the Whisker menu), and "Edit applications" will appear in the context menu of the applications menu icon. We direct it to our own mx-menu-editor instead.
