Thunar with gloobus-preview

Hi

Isn't there a way to configure Thunar to run gloobus-preview when pressing SPACE key?

Thx!

Re: Thunar with gloobus-preview

By pressing the space key in Thunar, the default associated application for that filetype is executed with the highlighted file as the parameter. You could change the default action for all the filetypes you are interested in to run gloobus-preview.

Or, you can create a custom action to execute it (won't be able to use the space button).

Re: Thunar with gloobus-preview

Thanks!
The solution to associate all desired files is not that bad but has two flaws:
1. When I then want to open the file from Gloobus-Preview it just reopens Globus-Preview instead of the correct viewer.
2. Double click (open) file doesn't work anymore.

It really is sad this isn't possible. And I won't hope for it. Found a request asking for the same while googling that was from a loooong time ago. Like 2011 or something. :-( Assigning custom actions to Space key would be enough.......

Re: Thunar with gloobus-preview

Hey all, if you have Thunar file manager you can use gloobus-preview by setting a custom action:
first, download gloobus-preview:

    sudo apt-get install gloobus-preview

then, in thunar set a custom action in menu -> edit -> configure custom actions

Name: Preview file
Description: preview the file using gloobus
previewCommand: gloobus-preview %f
In the appearence and conditions tab select all the checks.

For access to gloobus preview unfortunately you need use right click
menu in the latest options. Now if you want to preview a file right
click it and select the custom action.

Good Lucky guys

Actually you can use Gloobus preview in Thunar via just space.
Besides that you have to create a custom action, you need to:
kill the thunar process,
and than edit the file: ~/.config/Thunar/accels.scm:
and add this line:

(gtk_accel_path "<Actions>/ThunarActions/uca-action-1375511045783134-112" "space")

there `1375511045783134-112` - is the id fo the action you made. You can find that id in ~/.config/Thunar/uca.xml file.

Than start thunar and enjoy.

Very good.

I lost track of this gloobus idea about 5+ years ago after a long look trying to reproduce the functionality of InfoTag from ancient windows...

I would want it activated with a hover mouse enter event and close on mouse leave...
Images were very heavy and problematic. Other files were ok, but lots of complications, we would need a user configurable widget to handle general file attributes, exif, mpeg tags, version, package, and cat view info...

It was a mess compared to the 122kb dll...I gave up. Since I'm lazy it needs to be a hover action, no keyboard required. Since I'm conservative, it needs to coexist in the official Debian repository. So I forgot about it.
