installing xfce4.12 on ARMHF

Hello,

I would like to know if it is possible to install the new XFCE4.12 desktop on a arm board with a Ubuntu OS as a base.
For now I have already found on a repository directory on Launchpad for the arm architecture.

http://ppa.launchpad.net/xubuntu-dev/xf … ary-armhf/

However when I do look at the actual Launchpad page for XFCE4.12 I can not find any PPA repository
host information for the arm architecture.

I therefore tried by myself what the appropriate lines in my source list file should look.

deb https://ppa.launchpad.net/xubuntu-dev/x … nary-armhf trusty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/xubuntu-dev/xf … nary-armhf trusty main
However I received a 404 error msg.

Can someone please tell me if am researching into the correct direction or If I need to try completely different route in order to  install the new XFCE desktop on to my arm board?

Thx, user4747

Re: installing xfce4.12 on ARMHF

I don't have any experience with the arm architecture or with installing Xfce on arm, so take this with a grain of salt.

First of all, the reason that you are getting a 404 message is because you are tying to connect via https. If you use http instead, you should make a connection.

Secondly, the "normal" way of attaching a ppa repository is to use the add-apt-repository command:

add-apt-repository ppa:xubuntu-dev/xfce-4.12

...does the Ubuntu base install have that command? More info here.
