built in hibernate doesn't work, nor suspend.

If I use the 'hibernate' attached to the 'action buttons' thingie, on restarting my system my monitor zero is always black, tho monitors one and two come back fine.  Using 'suspend' it is the same, *and* my mouse is dead, I have to ^@F1 to terminal and kill xfce4, and restart to get things working again.  Using the debian package 'hibernate' everything works pefectly, I can hibernate from within xfce4 and it all comes back exactly as I left it.
