Customize Menu

Hello,
I'm using
Xfce 4 Desktop Environment
version 4.4.2 (Xfce 4.4)
on VNC section.

until last week, I can customize the menu inside vnc section, editing this file
$HOME/.config/xfce4/desktop/menu.xml

[img=F:\My Pictures\PERLAVORO\Menu_home_desktop_ecado5.jpg]MENU[/img]

now this file can be read no more from system.
Now the menu can be edit only on this directory
$HOME/.local/share/applications/*.desktop
I have to create any single file .desktop for any link I need to create.

There is some program to covert .xml file to the new one .desktop?

Sorry but i cannot insert any image from my PC.

Xfce 4.4.2 is 9 years old and no longer maintained. To be honest, you may have difficulty finding someone who remembers or has knowledge about how menus were managed back then.

Here is the wiki article on customizing menus. It states:

This page describes how to customize the menu, using Xfdesktop 4.5 or higher. For earlier versions you can use the libxfce4menu GUI.

Do you have a libxfce4menu GUI application that you can use?

Or alternatively, can you update to a more recent version of Xfce?
