Xfce desktop settings don't load after crash

I'm using Ubuntu Studio 14.04.3 LTS (trusty).

After a firefox crash the following things appeared:
- no desktop icons
- only one desktop available (instead of four)
- no adjusted background pictures
- if clicking the right mouse button, no context menu appears
- the upper window bar (with minimize, maximize, close) is missing on all windows
- couldn't mount windows partition (dualboot)

The desktop icons are still in the right folder (/home/<user>/desktop), but don't appear on the desktop.
The background pics are still adjusted in the Xfce-Settings, too.
If I type "startx" in terminal, all settings will load, but in a new session. When I want to open Synaptic for example, it doesn't open in this session. Instead it opens in the other session (in the background).
It seems the settings won't load at login.

First, try manually clearing your sessions cache:

1. Log out of the graphical session
2. Go to the first console (Ctrl +Alt +F1)
3. Log in to the text console
4. Delete the sessions cache:

cd .cache
rm -rf sessions

5. Go back to the graphical session (Ctrl + Alt + F7)
6. Log in and see if things are better.

Lets see if this gets things back to normal.

Before I allready tried

rm -rf ~/.cache/sessions/*

without success.
But your Code worked.

Thanks ToZ.

You helped me as well. I was running xfce in Linux Mint 17.1 . My desktop wouldn't load and the screen was blank except for panel on the bottom. I was able to use all the other functions though.
