thunar: right-click context menu ergonomic problem

Hello.

When I right click on some item on thunar, the context menu shows up, as expected, but too close to the mouse pointer, in a way that automatically the item that is under the mouse gets selected (highlighted), without needing to do any movement.  This makes that sometimes I accidentally click the selected item, by a kind of double right click (both right and left buttons click the item). May be my fingers or my mouse are not perfectly accurate, but this is annoying. And dangerous (sometimes the mouse pointer is under "Delete").

I have noticed that this does not happen with other applications. The context menu opens when right clicking, but no item is selected automatically. Moving the mouse pointer over some of them is required for it to highlight.
So in this case it is hard to accidentally click on an item.

How do you think that this may be improved? May I do any tweaks myself?
Should I report a bug? Does anyone else have this problem?

Thunar 1.6.12
Xfce 4.12.x (don't know the exact version)
MX 17.1

Checked on Linux Mint 18.3, Thunar 1.6.11 and the same happens.

* edit:
I notice that this problem also happens not only on Thunar, but also on other apps like Mousepad, xfce4-terminal, and Desktop (the difference is I do not use the context menu as often as on thunar on this apps).

* edit 2:
In Mousepad, when I right click, nothing appears as selected, but if, without moving, I right click again, then an item is highlighted and triggerd. So, the effect is the same.

Re: thunar: right-click context menu ergonomic problem

Tried to reproduce that behavior here ....

Linux Mint 19.

Left side of pic (right mouse click) window opens, but nothing is marked.

Right side of pic - have to move the pointer a bit to the right to mark first entry in line.

Re: thunar: right-click context menu ergonomic problem

Good, k-3.14, that's how it should be.

Thanks for checking.

But now, What happens if, after the fist right-click, without moving nor selecting anything, you right-click again?
What I would expect is, as it happens on most apps, that the context menu closes, without any effect.

Re: thunar: right-click context menu ergonomic problem

Thanks again, k-3.14. That's good.

So, it seems hardware related, somehow.

I checked on Linux mint 19 xfce live usb on this pc and had the same problem.

Now i am on live Xubuntu 18.10, same pc, and this one works fine!. Nothing happens on second right-click. As it should. Checked on thunar (1.8.1), xfce4-terminal (0.8.7.4), mousepad (0.4.1) and Desktop.

Perhaps I should ask for support at my distro's site.
