Unable to restart after Mint upgrade

Hi,

Ever since I had upgrade my mint machine I have lost the ability to restart from the gui. I was wondering if someone could give me a hand to help troubleshoot this issue.

Thank you!

Re: Unable to restart after Mint upgrade

Hi keddrxd, and welcome.

Could you supply a bit more detail please. Are you able to click on Restart and it just doesn't work? Or is Restart missing? Is this in the Menu or on the panel?

Re: Unable to restart after Mint upgrade

Hi MrEen,

Thank you! The restart option is greyed out in the top right menu. Not sure how to attach pictures here.

Re: Unable to restart after Mint upgrade

Try this. Right click on the Menu and select Properties then the Commands tab. Is every box checked in there? And is the command associated with Log Out set to xfce4-session-logout?

That what my 18.3 Xfce is set to. I'll check a 19.3 VM to see if it's the same.

Re: Unable to restart after Mint upgrade

In 19.3 the command should be the same.

To make sure it's not some ownership issue please run this then see if it works:

sudo chown -Rc $USER:$USER $HOME

Re: Unable to restart after Mint upgrade

Hi,

That command menu is not there, when I right click and press on properties it just shows "Action Buttons".

Re: Unable to restart after Mint upgrade

Ahh, I think I might know what it is. Is the Menu a mouse, or the Mint menu with a green circle?

Re: Unable to restart after Mint upgrade

If I'm correct, this should fix you up:

xfce4-panel --quit ; pkill xfconfd ; rm -rf ~/.config/xfce4/panel ; rm -rf ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-panel.xml ; xfce4-panel

Run that in the terminal.

Yikes! It's over my head.

We'll need to wait for someone more knowledgeable, sorry.
