Thunar right click menu is shaking

Hi,

when i right click on some files (i my case subtitle files like idx or sup) the context menu is shaking. This occurs only when the application subtitleedit is set up as [Added Associations] in the file ~/.config/mimeapps.list. Subtitleedit is a windows tool that works with mono not with wine. It works absolutely perfect. Here are the lines in the mimeapps.list for idx subtitle files

[Added Associations]
application/x-idx=subtitleedit.desktop;

[Default Applications]
application/x-idx=bdsup2sub++.desktop;

As you can see idx files are normally opened with bdsub2sup, when i want to open it with subtitleedit i can use the right click menu and choose subtitleedit. The problem don't occur all the time. I had no problem on xubuntu 18.04. Xubuntu 20.04 was a new installation, no upgrade from 18.04.

Thunar is version 1.8.14

Bug filed here, closed as fixed in master. I hope the updates roll soon!

I dont have the problems when downloading files. I have the Problem with normal files. The same reason?

I going to go way out on a limb here. Is a movie playing when you right click on these files? If the movie isn't playing, does right clicking on these files still have a shaking window?

I'm thinking the movie accessing the files might be helping to cause this, and suspect the fix alcornoqui linked to will probably also resolve this issue.

There is no movie playing.

Fixed in thunar master since !10 (merged) (static context menus now)

What does this mean? I only install my applications using the official ubuntu repos. At the moment i have thunar 1.8.14 installed on ubuntu 20.04. What version do i need?

I had the same problem on Xubuntu 20.04. Sometimes while I was downloading a file in Vivaldi browser (pretty similar to Opera), sometimes the menu was shaking (redrawing) even without any running download - some other process might interfere...
After upgrade Thunar to 4.15.2 (from this PPA https://launchpad.net/~xubuntu-dev/+arc … lter=focal ) everything is OK as it used to be on Xubuntu 18.04.
