XFCE 4.14 does not start after installation

Dear members,

I have installed XFCE 4.14 from the source. During installation there was no problem, but when I select to use XFCE from the login screen, type password and enter, I can see black screen for a second or two and I see my login screen again. I am using Debian 10.6.0 Buster, GDM3 as display manager, version of GNU Make is 4.2.1. For all source directories of XFCE (eg. xfwm, xfce-session, exo-utils, etc.) I have always run just:

./configure
make
sudo make install

and it did not complain about any problem.

EDIT:

XFCE does not start from GDM3 but it does start from lightdm. So I have different question: Why does XFCE start from LightDM but not from GDM3?

So I switched from GDM3 to LightDM and everything works as expected.
