window operations menu keyboard accelerators missing [solved]

Hello I have installed xfce version 4.12 on Debian 10 today and I notice the window operations menu keyboard accelerators are missing. This is with default window manager theme and with custom as well.

For example, my normal workflow to maximize a window is Alt+Space+x. To close a window would be Alt+Space+c.

Alt+Space opens the window operations menu, but the menu's keyboard accelerators are missing.

Can anyone please explain how to reactivate this functionality?

edit - It's a problem with the gtk theme (ClassicLooks) ...
