Compositor changing menu background

When I enable Xfce compositor all menus take on the selected background color, so if I have a blue selection color menu now has blue background.
Any ideas as to the cause/solution?

Re: Compositor changing menu background

Some things to look at:
1. Does changing the GTK (Appearance) theme make a difference? Which one are you currently using?
2. Do you have any content in your ~/.gtkrc-2.0 (Xfce 4.12 or lower) or ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css files containing rgba or transparency directives?
3. Possibly a video driver issue? Which video card and driver are you using?

Re: Compositor changing menu background

Well I have looked everywhere trying to find the culprit to  no avail.  I followed your suggestion and there was nothing that I noticed.
NOW, if I use arc-dark, greybird,adwaita-dark they work fine with the compositor.
So, I know it's a cop-out but I am not going to use the Compositor.

PS:  compton has the same issue.

Thanks for all your suggestions, just wondering what the issue could be.
The themes I use are custom Arc theme, so I would assume it is something I messed up.
