[SOLVED] No "Laptop Lid" section under Power Manager | General...

...can't blank display when closing lid.

Laptop Lid

You can choose separate options to favor power saving (suspend), security (lock screen) or quick recovery (blank screen), depending on whether you are running on battery or plugged in.

OK, appreciate all the reads on this.  After four days of ongoing research, the solution has been uncovered.  Was fiddling with the kb backlights in /sys/class/leds/dell::kbd_backlight/start_triggers, and came upon a post that referred to /etc/UPower/UPower.conf, in which the following was found:

# Do we ignore the lid state
#
# Some laptops are broken. The lid state is either inverted, or stuck
# on or off. We can't do much to fix these problems, but this is a way
# for users to make the laptop panel vanish, a state that might be used
# by a couple of user-space daemons. On Linux systems, see also
# logind.conf(5).
#
# default=false
#IgnoreLid=false
IgnoreLid=true

Default Debian Bookworm sets IgnoreLid=true, and this "is a way for users to make the laptop panel vanish"!??

The user has no clue, Debian set the lid to vanish and said nothing.  After changing this to IgnoreLid=false, then

It was not necessary to run

# systemctl enable upower.service

to get Has LID: True

Now the Power Manager finally has the Laptop Lid section, although it is under the System tab now instead of General where it was in earlier versions:

Was realizing that this was not an Xfce interface problem, but something in Debian, and was about to post in the deb forum after getting the kb backlights to behave, then came upon this.  Will edit the title here to add [SOLVED]
