dragging items between virtual desktops

I'd like to be able to drag "anything" (links, filenames, etc.) between virtual desktops.

Am I missing some setting to allow this?

Currently, I'm only able to drag application windows between virtual desktops.

It seems a bit weird I can drag one type of resource (app windows) between
desktops, but not others.

I think that is not possible, you can send a window to a different virtual desktop with its context menu, but you can't with other resources.

It would be cool though.
